Director's  Notes

Dr. Yudkoff is a South African-born educator who lived in Durban, on the east coast of South Africa whilst the country was in the throes of apartheid. As a student and as a teacher in South Africa, she was actively engaged in the struggle for freedom.

After moving to the United States in 2002, Dr. Yudkoff taught at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, before joining the faculty at the Hoosick Falls Jr/Sr High School in 2006. One of her primary goals has been to broaden the musical horizons of her students. They have appeared on WMHT’s Music for the Holidays; they have performed at festivals that have taken them to Orlando, to South Carolina, to Massachusetts, to Connecticut and to Troy Music Hall in New York where they have performed with Albany Pro Musica and the Boston String Quartet. The highlight of their performances has been five memorable events at Carnegie Hall: The American Christmas Carol and Music of Hope (2010, 2013, 2014, and 2015, 2016).

Dr. Yudkoff is a published contributing author with certifications in Music, English, and School Building and District Leadership. As part of her academic pursuits, she received her Ph.D. in Musicology in 2018, and she is currently working on her book in historical ethnomusicology. Her music album "Legacy" is scheduled for release later this year.

Dr. Yudkoff has three children: her oldest daughter is a veterinarian; her second daughter is a clinical child and family counselor and her son recently completed his Masters in Economics at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
